I was pretty excited to find the latest copy of Midwest Living in my mailbox last week, and especially excited to see some of my letter magnets on page 103. Writer Hannah Agran found a very cool selection of green gifts and I am honored to be among them! Hannah ordered some of my letter magnets a while back to spell the word "Green" for the article heading, which I thought was very creative. Another fun addition to my press page!
Many thanks to Hannah Agran and photographer Jay Wilde for their great work and for including me in this article! Be sure to check out Midwest Living magazine's website as well. I really enjoyed paging through this issue and all of it's springtime ideas and imagery...some day very soon this snow will melt and we'll see the "spring joys" again that they showcase on the cover of the issue!!

Magazine Page Valentine Pockets
Hello everyone! I know, it's been forever since I've blogged...we recently moved our home, our family, our dogs, and coincidentally, my business. So, things have been a little crazy, but we are getting settled again and it's time to blog some more!
I realize this is totally belated, being that Valentine's day is over, but I wanted to share this fun tutorial from Unplug Your Kids. It just seems so fitting for the Junk Mail Gems blog because it uses recycled magazine pages! Just a little something to tuck away until next year...although who says you can only send love notes on Valentine's day? Make one today! :-)

New Uses for Old Broomsticks!
I picked up a few old magazines from the 1920's the other day for $0.55 cents each at the thrift store, thinking the pages and ads may be fun material to decoupage or make other things with. Just had to share this little article on "New uses for old broomsticks!"
Whether we call it "recycling," "upcycling," "repurposing," "re-using," or "DIY," it's not a new idea! Too bad so many brooms are made from metal tubes now...a lot harder for the average person to convert into something else!

Recycled Kids' Art Project: Used Magazine Collage!
Okay, I'm mooching off of myself again, but I thought this would be a good post to share here on my Junk Mail Gems blog too! I used to make collages all the time when I was little. Here's how you and your kids can have fun turning old magazines into art too!

Beautiful Magazine Mobiles
Gotta share this cool product that my design savvy sister recently emailed my way...Check out these beautiful mobiles by Frazier & Wing, made out of recycled magazine pages!

So gorgeous!! This morning I took a break from some of my design work (as if I need a break from something I love), to make some more paper beads. Keep an eye out at Junk Mail Gems as I'll be updating my bead section with some new products and new improvements to what's already there! Or, sign up for my newsletter on the first page to keep really up-to-date. (I'll give you a juicy tip...I'm planning to include a coupon in my next issue!!)
